Classic Skate
Mr. Heath Kirchart & Mr. Jeremy Klein in Birdhouse’s 1998 flick The End. This was the second skate video I got (first was Fulfill the Dream). These dudes skating the signs (Blockbuster RIP) in suits is classic, finish it off with an on fire bridge drop? This is what classics are made of.
Their second part in The End is another instant classic. Causing ruckus in that van, ending it off in the Lexus’ pulling up to skateboarder heaven (HERE for that part). Andrew Reynolds’ section is also nuts, ends off with his trailer park monkey drinking all his beer.
I was surprised when I heard today that Heath Kirchart is retiring. Couldn’t imagine him having much knee left after drops this big and that many years of skating.
The Board Meeting
Over the past 6 years Toronto longboarders have gathered one night at the beginning of summer for a massive ride. This year’s Toronto Board Meeting is taking place this Friday May 7th at 6pm. An expected 400 riders are going to gather and bomb Yonge St. followed by an after party at Augusta House. There’s also a gallery taking place at the Longboard Living Gallery (74 Oxford St.) this Friday at 7pm to showcase photos from previous ‘Board Meetings’.
