The “Waldner” is a high concept product that is considered the next generation ping pong table. The table is armed with a multi-touch surface that responds to both human touch, real world objects and voice recognition. Like some robot technology out of The Jetsons, it even allows you to argue points and discuss strategy with the table itself. The table is essentially a giant screen, powered by Samsung multi-touch technology, a Mac Pro 12-core computer, ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphic cards, a Wi-Fi connection and 12 Bose micro speakers.
One of the most impressive features is that the table measures and records all of the match data. This includes information like ball hit areas, trajectory and speed. It can be viewed in real time and has connectivity to devices like the iPad and iPhone. There’s no word on if this will actually go in to production, but either way — the future is exciting.
dutil. Denim in Toronto & Vancouver are hosting simultaneous events on February 25th to cap off the month of ‘Fade February’. Reps will be on hand from Nudie, Railcar, and Levi’s showcasing some of their pieces and to answer any questions. I’ll have a Worn Denim Display at the Toronto location. Flying Monkeys will be there to keep your whistles wet.
There is also a Worn Denim Walk-off contest. Send a photo of your best worn jeans to firstname.lastname@example.org (Toronto) or email@example.com (Vancouver) to be considered for a spot in the contest. There are only a few spots left so get them submitted ASAP! Winners will get their choice of jeans from Nudie, Railcar, or Levi’s. I’m a contest judge along with the brand reps and store managers.
I’m excited for this, look forward to meeting some It’s Worn fans from around Toronto. In the meantime, check out the dutil. blog for Fade February facts every day leading up to the event. February 25th, be there.
The Healthy Hustle with Todd Barket, the owner of UnionMade shop in San Francisco. I was lucky enough to stop in on my last jaunt to SF, it was like all my favourite things from the internet joined forces and descended upon the UnionMade shelves. It’s my favourite shop I’ve ever stepped foot in. I walked out with 1 of 18 Alden Stanyan boot
